Response to the outcome of the 2018 Ontario Provincial Election

 

TORONTO (June 8, 2018) ‚Äî Today, OASIS member agencies offer their congratulations to the new government of Ontario under Premier Doug Ford. We know that this is an opportunity to renew our relationships with the government and reaffirm our commitment to serving Ontario’s most vulnerable.

The former Government of Ontario had taken many important steps over the past years including their commitment to provide an additional $1.8 Billion over the next three years to expand and sustain services for individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and community-based agencies.

Although the Progressive Conservatives did not outline their plan for developmental services prior to the election, OASIS urges the government to support the initiatives that have been outlined in the previous Budget and are committed to working as a partner to reach the best outcome for our agencies and those they support.

OASIS looks forward to continuing to work with the government to address the ongoing needs of the Developmental Services Sector and provide as much support to the new Minister and staff as we can during this transition.
