We are presently accepting resumes for a full-time Finance and Operations Director to provide strong direction, development and maintenance of financial systems in accordance with Government regulations, the standards of practice of the agency and the strategic directions of the Agency. To provide operational leadership for the organization within a specific set of programs, this includes Finance, Information Technology, Property and Procurement and Administration Services.

Compensation package:

  • Minimum starting rate of $61.50 per hour; $119,925 annualized;
  • 11 statutory holidays are observed, with public holiday pay;
  • 4% vacation pay paid on each pay cheque;

Following the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period:

  • Ability to work remotely 2 days (or similar)

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Partnering with the CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Leadership Team on organizational strategy for Empower Simcoe.
  • Financial planning and monitoring, managing agency subsidies and spending within approved limits.
  • Providing adequate financial information for the Board of Directors to discharge their trusteeship.
  • Overseeing the completion of quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Assisting with identifying and applying for new sources of funding.
  • Ensuring that all legislative, licensing, funding and related accountability mechanisms regarding Property and Procurement are fully adhered to.
  • Overseeing the budgets for all services as assigned including the effective allocation of financial resources and expenditure within the budget limitations provided.
  • Providing leadership for the organization over Information Technology and Administrative Services relative to planning, development and implementation.
  • Seeking out relationships both internally and externally that brings strategic advantage to the organization and to the people it supports.
  • Building opportunities for inclusion for people supported through new collaborative relationships with key community organizations, services and individuals.
  • Providing leadership to ensure strong day-to-day operational management of portfolio functions and staff.
  • Mentoring and working effectively with all assigned staff in terms of listening, motivating, providing feedback on performance, reinforcing good work, problem solving, supporting and building competence.
  • Participating in agency-wide succession planning and ensure the development of specific succession planning and training strategies within the assigned department.
  • Ensuring that a strategic planning context is in place for the assigned department that includes formal goals and a work plan that is aligned with the agency’s strategic plan, is monitored and evolves/changes over time.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements for this position include:

  • University degree in Business Management or Accounting plus a Professional Accounting designation e.g. CMA, CGA, CA or an equivalent combination of education and experience as deemed acceptable by the Agency.
  • A minimum of 7 years related experience, with a minimum of 5 years recent full-time experience in a senior management role preferably in a human services environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Not for Profit Accounting Standards.
  • Knowledge of facilities management, fleet management and/or Broader Public Sector Procurement directives are an asset.
  • Strong leadership, collaborative and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, delegation and decision-making skills.
  • Strong strategic management and team building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage within a unionized environment.
  • Detail oriented and deadline driven.
  • Project management skills advanced knowledge of computer applications, plus advanced knowledge of accounting software.
  • A valid G class drivers’ licence and own reliable transportation is required.
  • Managing crisis situations effectively.
  • Participating in an on-call support system that provides emergency support for the Agency during evenings, weekends and holiday periods.
