OASIS 2021 Scholarships and Awards

 The 2021 OASIS Scholarship and Awards will be presented at this years’ June 25th, 2021 virtual OASIS Annual General Meeting

SCHOLARSHIPS

As I am sure you are all aware, OASIS is committed to helping their member agencies maintain and provide high quality services through exemplary leadership.  To help you achieve this, OASIS provides Scholarship opportunities for YOU to apply to.  Please see below the various learning streams and description of funding available for your application.

The President’s Scholarship was established in recognition of the contributions of the volunteer Presidents of OASIS since its inception in 1996. 

  • Issued once per year to an Executive Director or Senior Manager
  • Presented at the OASIS Annual General Meeting
  • Up to $5,000 value
  • Can be utilized for Executive Director’s  or Senior Manger attendance/participation in a conference or educational program of their selection
  • Funds can be utilized for travel, accommodation, meals, registration fees and materials i.e. books
  • Selection made by the President, Vice-President Volunteer, Vice-President Executive Director of OASIS

The George Braithwaite Scholarship was established in recognition of former OASIS Board member and President, George Braithwaite for his volunteer contributions to OASIS and is:

  • Issued once per year to an Executive Director or Senior Manager;
  • Presented at the OASIS Annual General Meeting;
  • Up to $5,000 value; and
  • Utilized for Executive Director or Senior Manger’s attendance/participation in the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities’ week-long Leadership Institute at the University of Delaware.  Note: The program for the Consortium on Developmental Disabilities is projected to occur again on-site in January 2022. 
  • Funds to be utilized for travel, accommodation, meals & registration fees;
  • Selection made by the OASIS Labour Relations Committee

AWARDS

Nominations are Now Open for the 2021 Annie Oliver Award and Member Leadership Award

For those who have and continue to blaze the trails of exceptionality we want to take this opportunity to recognize and reward you for your achievements. 

To do this we provide two different awards that you can apply to for yourself, your agency, your colleague or another agency.

The Annie Oliver Award is presented to recognize and honour an individual. 

  • Someone who demonstrates excellence, innovation and leadership in the developmental services sector and best exemplifies the interests and mission of OASIS;
  • Someone who demonstrates the highest administrative competence and professionalism and in so-doing has provided an inspiration to others; and
  • Someone who, by a combination of perseverance, determination and positive attitude has assisted OASIS in achieving the goals inherent in its Mission Statement.

The Annual Member Leadership Award is to recognize and honour an OASIS member organization. 

Someone that demonstrates excellence, innovation and leadership in the developmental services sector and best exemplifies the interests and mission of OASIS;  

  • Someone that demonstrates collaboration, partnership and professionalism and in so-doing has provided an inspiration to others; and
  • Someone that, by a combination of perseverance, determination and positive attitude has assisted OASIS in achieving the goals inherent in its Mission Statement.

WEBINAR: OASIS & IVEY – Leading in Complexity Workshop with Martha Maznevski

With the support of the Frank Cowan Company and in collaboration with Ivey Business Academy, OASIS is hosting a webinar which will contrast the leadership of two archetypes: Hercules and Buddha.

Delivered over two 2-Hour Sessions, this webinar will be hosted by Professor Martha Maznevski, who specializes in cross-cultural management. She teaches mainly in the areas of leadership, teams, and global management, including specific topics such as leading continuous and disruptive change, diversity and inclusion, and leading digital transformation.

The webinar will focus on:

  • Introduction to Leading in Complexity;
  • Exploring your Hercules and Buddha;
  • Setting up your practice;
  • Reflecting on your leadership in practice; and
  • Facilitating large group and small group dialogue about taking your leadership to the next level.

Tickets are $150 for both sessions, with the first session being held on Wednesday, 14th April at 1PM.

There are different dates available for the second session, which you will be able to choose once you have registered.

OASIS’ Response to 2021 Ontario Budget

Yesterday, the Government of Ontario released its 2021 Budget, “Ontario’s Action Plan: Protecting People’s Health and Our Economy.” The Budget outlines the next phase of Ontario’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery Plan, including a major focus on the province’s vaccine distribution plan, as well as making significant investments in health care and other key sectors deeply impacted by the ongoing pandemic.

2021 Virtual Conference Registration is Now Open!!

Please join us for the 2021 OASIS Virtual Conference from Thursday, May 6th to Friday, May 7th.

The theme for this year’s conference is Forward Together, where we hope to explore where our sector has been throughout the pandemic, where we are now and where we hope to go over the next few years.

This year’s event will be hosted on EventMobi, an easy to navigate, end-to-end event management platform. The event will not just be for virtual viewing, but rather will be a full online experience that creates a virtual conference centre.

The program will include a number of inspiring keynote speakers and panel discussions as well as a wide range of plenary sessions and workshops.
