Are you seeking to apply your knowledge, skills, and experiences as a senior leadership member of a dynamic social services organization, with a focus on developmental services?

We, *OXeNHaM Consultants Inc., in partnership with our Client Niagara Support Services, are searching for a Director Residential Services to oversee a core team of supervisors and steer them towards the effective planning, management and development of their various residential programs.

Position Summary:

As a key member of the Steering Committee of NSS, the Director of Residential Services will report to the Chief Executive Officer, and will be responsible for the development and operation of all residential services’ programs. As one of the key contributors, the Director of Residential Services will participate in decision-making in program, service and operational planning. The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship management skills combined with a strong business and operational acumen.

Leadership, Partnership & Collaboration: Works closely with the CEO and Management Team to to provide effective and visible leadership to the Agency, as well as mentorship and skills development of the team reporting in, supporting person-centred services that promote the values of NSS. Be the ambassador and central agency contract, networking and partnering with other funded agencies and private sector companies to support the strategic plan of NSS.

Planning: Key contributor to the strategic planning process, providing insight and operational perspective to the CEO in support of the strategic plan of NSS. Oversee and provide leadership for client admissions, discharges contentious issues, case management and inter-agency case management. Develop proposals, policy and procedures, recommend and provide input to the annual budget process.

Operations & Transformation of Residential Services: Review operational practices related to Residential Programs and Staff Scheduling Systems, ensuring effective service delivery and compliance with Quality Assurance Measures. Ensure documentation is maintained and shared in accordance with legislation and Ministry guidelines. Conduct regular reviews of residential budgets and staffing structures with Operations managers

Staff Management, Labour & Employee Relations: Select, motivate, and evaluate staff, conducting performance appraisals, facilitating ongoing training for Operations Managers and Supervisors. Support collective bargaining and be a key resource for complex internal investigations.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to 4 years of full-time education at a college or university in an appropriate field of discipline such as Social Sciences, preferably with some business education • 6-8 years of proven experience in a progressive/managerial and/or senior operations’ role • Residential services experience within Developmental Services, Mental Health and/or Addictions is a must • Annual certification in first aid, CPR, Safety-Care™, WHMIS • Knowledge of principles, methods, practices and legislation related to social services • Proven mentoring, management and leadership skills • Experience managing in a unionized environment; bargaining and negotiation experience an asset • Tactical knowledge about compliance and quality assurance • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to make good judgement calls under pressure and in a dynamic environment • Knowledge and experience with service planning, budget preparation, program expenditure control and financial accountability • Knowledge of employee/labour relations practices and legislation • Experience in researching, writing and developing funding and project-based proposals • Ability to perform in a pressure environment, with a sense of urgency • Ability to effectively resolve conflict and deal with ambiguity • Excellent communication skills, oral and written • Proficiency in new technologies, and an eagerness to learn and adapt to newer ones Please apply by submitting your resume, a letter of interest marked CV-NSS OX2018 and salary history/expectations to: exec@oxenham.com The deadline by which we must receive your application is 11:59 p.m. EST, October 16, 2018.
