SUNBEAM CENTRE is a non-profit organization in Kitchener, Ontario, that provides residential, day program, and professional outreach services to individuals with diverse developmental disabilities; and is the host agency of Developmental Services Ontario, Central West Region. DSOCWR is the contact point for adults from Waterloo, Wellington, Dufferin, Halton, and Peel Counties who are seeking MCSS funded developmental services and supports.

We are presently seeking applicants for the position of:



Full Time (37.5 hours/week)

Working under the direction of the Executive Director the incumbent will plan, organize, direct, and control a program of single point access services for adults with a developmental disability, families, and agencies in the Central West Region. Hours of work will be flexible and will include evenings and weekends. Hours may exceed thirty-seven and a half (37.5) in a week. Core agency administration hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. The successful applicant will be required to travel within the Central West Region on a regular basis.

Duties include but are not limited to:
-Managing the operating and human resources required to develop and deliver single point access programs and other departmental services or programs
-Developing and monitoring standards, policies and procedures ensuring the optimal creation, implementation, and monitoring of single point access services
-Preparing, justifying, and monitoring of budgets of reporting budget centers
-Interpreting legislative, Ministry, and organizational directives, policies, procedures, and goals to reporting incumbents
-Deputizing for the Executive Director and other Senior Managers as requested or required
-Responsibility for maintaining of health and safety program requirements, QAM requirements, and procedures/policies/practices; physical plant space; resources and supplies requirements
-Performing other assigned duties as may be created or determined


Required Qualifications: -Completion of a University Degree in a field of Social Services or Health, supplemented by several years of progressively responsible experience in a supervisory capacity -Extensive experience in Developmental Services provision in residential and program service environments -Sound knowledge of local/regional services and resources available to such individuals especially with regard to residential and program service system milieus, in Central West Region -Familiarity with the SSIPDDA Child, Youth and Family Act, Mental Health Act, various other federal and provincial legislation, directives and guidelines, corporation by laws, policies, and procedures -The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, with all levels of staff, external consultants, parents/advocates, agents of other organizations and the general public and the skills necessary to maintain harmonious working relationships with others in a multi-disciplinary agency -Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license and a clean driving record along with the ability to travel within the Central West Region on a regular and frequent basis
